William Thomas Ellis

Mr. William Thomas Ellis,87, Farmville died at his residence on Monday, November 6, 2017.

Born on August 2, 1930 to the late Gladys Atkinson and adopted son of James Ellis, William grew up in and around Pitt County. He moved to New York in 1945 and worked in the garment industry. In 1951 William enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. He was married to the late Josephine Williams Ellis. William worked with The New York Transit Authority as a conductor, retiring in 1985. William and his wife, Josephine moved back to North Carolina and settled in Farmville, There they worshiped at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted niece; Renee (Trenton) Blount, a brother; Vernon (Arie) Vines, 2 sisters; Hazel Blount, and Eleanor Clark, a host of other relatives and friends.
