Dollie "Doll Baby" Ellis

Dollie “Doll Baby” Ellis, 84 of Farmville, NC passed away peacefully on December 22, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center.

She was born on December 13, 1929 to the late Cooper Little and Vinnie Tyson. She graduated from HB Sugg in Farmville, NC and entered the workforce soon after. She worked for many years at the former AC Monk in Farmville, NC and Fountain Apparel in Fountain, NC. After retirement, she was a caregiver and domestic worker for several families in the Farmville area. She would often be seen around town visiting friends and family and delivering her Stanley Home Products orders. As a member of the Helping Hand Club in Farmville she was able to help others in need. She was also a lifetime member of Saint James FWB Church in Fountain, NC where she sang in the senior choir, was a member of the Home Mission, and Pastor’s Aid.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, David Donnell Ellis of the home and Rodney Ellis of Suffolk, VA; three daughters, Dolly Singleton of South Norwalk, CT, Mary May of Farmville, NC, and Hattie Turner of Norfolk, VA (Curtis); two brothers, James Edwards (Colleen) of Harrisburg, PA and Columbus Edwards of Farmville, NC; one sister Olivia Dupree of Greenville, NC; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

The family will accept visitors at 4451 Alan Place Farmville, NC. A viewing will be held on Sunday December 29, 2013 from 1-2pm at St. James FWB Church in Fountain, NC. The celebration of life will begin at 2pm. Burial will take place at Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Farmville, NC.
